The Department of Management and Marketing Management is one of the departments of Unity University (Unity) that existed during the establishment of the then Unity College in 1997. The Department commenced its operation with diploma program in management. Subsequently, it introduced its degree program in Management in 1999; and masters degree program in Business Administration in 2007.  Currently, the Department of Management and Marketing Management is running Masters Program in Business Administration in regular and extension sessions at Gerji Campus. Unity University officially launched the “Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA)” in 2007 with the following objectives:
Objectives of the Department
1. General

The Department of Management and Marketing Management seeks to:

  •  Equip postgraduate students with fundamental skills of high-performance managers; and
  • Deliver quality instruction that helps candidates to gain competitive advantage in their   whether in established business environment or entrepreneurial setting.
2. Specific

Specifically, the Department is committed to produce qualified managers who can:

  • Take charge of all kinds of organizations and different functional areas of within;
  • Articulate strategic visions;
  • Allocate resources of all kind effectively;
  • Manage the activities of different undertakings that are related to the marketing, human resource; materials, production, logistics, information system, finance and others;
  • Think strategically, lead, motivate and manage teams across borders;
  •  Analyze and develop business opportunities as well as solve business problems;
  •  Handle innovatively the challenges of the highly complex and competitive business environment;
  •  Undertake research and consultancy activities in management areas; and
  •  Design systems, initiate improvement and innovations.
1. Admission Requirements
  • Any graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in any field of study, including Arts, Commerce,
    Science & Engineering, etc. from any recognized higher institution,
  • A minimum of CGPA 2.00 while Graduation, and
  • Any graduate with a master’s degree in any field of study.
2. Duration of the Program

Two years are required for students attending the regular MBA program and three years for students
in the evening program.

3. Graduation Requirements
  • Candidate must take all required courses for the program.
  • Candidate mus achieve a minimum of CGPA 3.00.
  • Candidate mus successfully defend the Masters Thesis.
  • In order to graduate, a candidate must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00;
  • A student must earn an average of B to graduate in clear status. Still though,
    a student with two C’s or two C+ ‘s or one C and one C+ is urged to remove his/her C or C+.
  • A candidate who has more than two Cs or two C+ s will not be allowed to graduate
    even if he/she earns CGPA of 3.00 or above.

MA/Business Economics

The Department of Economics offers two MA degree programs in Business Economics and in Development Economics in regular and evening sessions; and BA degree program in Economics in the Regular program and in Distance mode.

1. Admission Requirements

All applicants must earn a grade point average as specified by the Ministry of Education to quality for admission as graduate students. Applicants are required to produce all the necessary documents to the Office of the Registrar and pass entrance examination. Candidate must be:

  • Graduate at bachelor’s level in Economics with a CGPA of 2.00 or above; and
  • Supported by three referees, preferably from the instructors who know his/her academic performance and his/her research activity.
2. Preparatory Course

Applicants from other fields of specializations will be expected to take preparatory courses for a semester and are required to score pass grade in all the courses. Besides, they have to sit and pass entrance examination. The preparatory courses are:

  • Macroeconomics (Econ 221)
  • Research Methodology Econ 302)
  • Microeconomics (Econ 211)
  • Econometrics (Econ 311)
  • Development Theories (Econ 362)
  • Rural Urban Development (Econ 401)
3. Duration of the Study

The duration of postgraduate program is two academic years. A candidate may be allowed to continue for up to four years if it can be shown that the extension is required by force measure.

4. Graduation Requirements
  • Candidate must take courses with a total Cr. hrs of 36.
  • In order to graduate, a candidate must have a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
  • A student must earn an average of B to graduate in clear status. Still though, a student with two Cs or two C+ ‘s or one C and one C+ is urged to remove his/her C or C+ .
  • A Candidate who has more than two Cs or two C+ s will not be allowed to graduate even if he/she earns CGPA of 3.00 or above.

MA/Organizational Leadership

The Department of Management and Marketing Management is one of the departments of Unity University (Unity) that existed during the establishment of the then Unity College in 1997. The Department commenced its operation with diploma program in management. Subsequently, it introduced its bachelor’s degree program in management in 1999; masters’ degree program in Business Administration in 2007, and Business Administration: Specialization in Marketing in 2009. Besides this, Unity University has broadened its horizon by adding new masters program in Organizational Leadership starting from 2014 academic year,which is.

The Master’s Degree Program in Organizational Leadership (MOL) is developed by taking into consideration the following general objectives.

  • Train and develop competent professionals who can assume executive positions in business and society;
  • Produce professionals who are capable of conducting relevant research and taking up academic positions in higher learning institutions; and
  • Train individuals who will be capable of providing consultancy services in the areas of leadership and broad strategic governance issues.

  • Design systems, initiate improvement and innovations.
  • Handle inventively the challenges of the highly complex and competitive business environment.
  • Undertake research and consultancy activities in areas of leadership and broad governance issues.
  • Take up academic positions in higher learning institutions.
1. Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the MOL program, applicants should:

  • Have bachelor’s degree or above in any discipline from accredited institution of higher learning;
  • Have achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 and above in the undergraduate program; and
  • Demonstrate good performance in the entrance examination and/or equivalent admission test prepared by the University.
2. Duration of the Program

The total credit requirement for the entire program is 34 hours, including project work. The program is organized under a semester system.

    • Regular Program

The duration of the program shall be four semesters spread over two years.

    • Extension Program

The duration of the program shall have six semesters spread over three years.

3. Graduation Requirements
  • Take all required courses of the program.
  • Achieve a minimum of CGPA 3.00.
  • Successfully defend the Master’s Thesis.
