Addis Bible College Library
Addis Bible College Library is an extension of every classroom at ABC. Be sure to visit it frequently and glean from the vast resources on its shelves. There are three types of collections; periodicals, reference books and the general lending library. The first two groups of materials are to be used only in the library. Books in the general lending collection may be checked-out by ABC students who have a valid ID card. A faculty member may select some books from the general lending collection and place them on the “reserve shelf.” These books have a limited amount of time that they can be used by a student.
The Librarian, library assistants and library monitors are in charge of all the books and their usage. Students are to respect the requests of all of the library personnel. Rules and regulations governing the use of the library are posted and should be read carefully.
The library policies describe the number of books a student can check out and the period of time they can be used. Each book that is checked-out is given a due date. Please return books on time. After that date, the student will be fined on a daily basis until the book is returned. Fines must be paid before additional books can be borrowed.
Each book in the library has been provided through the generous gifts of people who love ABC and the students. Please handle the books carefully. Damage to or theft of the collection will meet with stern disciplinary measures.
Library hours: a daily schedule is posted in the library. The general schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., except during chapel, lunch and dinner. On Saturdays the hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The head librarian may modify this schedule.
One can study in a classroom when a class is not in session and also in the library. Visiting should be done elsewhere so that no one is disturbed.
Book Distribution Center
ABC stocks study guides and textbooks for all courses offered at ABC. Study Guides must purchase by the student and the student must rent textbooks. A few additional ministerial resource books are available. They may be purchased to improve one’s personal or church library whenever the materials are available.
Students are responsible to maintain their own health and hygiene. Each is encouraged to exercise, discipline eating habits and rest sufficiently. Should a medical emergency arise, the student should consult the staff for an available clinic that is close to the campus. The cost for treatment is the student’s responsibility.
If a major medical problem arises that prevents a student from continuing his/her studies for an extended period, the student must inform the Dean of Students. The dean will present the case to the Academic Affairs Committee, which will determine how to handle the student’s grades, financial obligations and refunds.
